Auditory Pleasures // #26

So its now been a whole six months since my first Auditory Pleasures post here at Faux. Hopefully everyone’s had as much fun checking out the material as much as I have had writing about it.

Thurston Moore, Sonic Youth guitarist and vocalist, has taken Crystal Castles’ electronically driven ‘Celestica’ and made it more of an acoustically-centric track. Distorted guitars and feedback loops recreate the Crystal Castles sound in a completely different way.

Miike Snow produced one of my favourite albums of 09, so it’s no wonder I’m a fan of new material previewed for the upcoming release of the deluxe version of their self titled debut. ‘The Rabbit’ follows a tried and tested formula which has so far worked for Miike Snow.

Brand new Kanye West material sees everyone’s favourite interrupter ditching the melodic beats and autotune of 808s & Heartbreak and heading back to his rap roots for upcoming new album Good Ass Job. ‘Power’, which features Dwele, is a great return to form from a rapper who had somewhat lost his way and will hopefully spell out good things for the upcoming album.

Eric Berglund of Tough Alliance is making waves thanks to his dream-pop side project ceo. ‘Come With Me’ combines a dance around your room backing track with Berglund’s dreamy vocals, sounding somewhere between Animal Collective and Beach House. ‘Come With Me’ is taken from ceo’s debut album White Magic, out later this summer.
