Did you know the bespectacled, techno loving hipster, Moby – has one of the most interesting photo blogs around? Ok, so this is probably old news to some people, he tweets about it all the time to his 1.2 million followers on twitter; but I only just found it, so shut up and enjoy.

Moby’s L.A Architecture blog is his own personal collection of images, documenting the wierd, wonderful and often downright terrible architecture that plagues the L.A landscape. He introduces the blog by saying:

“Most cities have big, grand, old, and well documented architecture. LA has idiosyncratic weirdness. Sometimes beautiful. Sometimes strange. Sometimes painfully banal. So when I walk/drive around LA I’ll take pictures of some of the strange, beautiful, ugly, banal, sublime, baffling buildings I come across.”

You can check out some of our favourite images below, all credit for the images go to Moby. For more info and to check out the blog visit mobylosangelesarchitecture.com.

London born Eclectic Method are an audio/visual performance group responsible for some of the most celebrated Live audiovisual dance parties and award-winning viral videos, not to mention their original productions and continued contributions to the evolution of digital performance.

As their name suggests, nothing is off limits for the EM chopping block. Their output most infamously includes cutting and re-composing video and audio clips from music videos, film, TV, video games, into new forms of visual meta-pop.

Now based in Brooklyn and led by founding member Jonny Wilson, the crew are pumping out work at an alarming rate, collaborating with some heavy players in electronic music, such as Childish Gambino, Chuck D, FatBoy Slim, J-Live and Reggie Watts.

Their latest release is a reconstruction of Jay Z’s ’99 Problems’, you can check it out below and find out more about them at eclecticmethod.net.

When three friends stop at an cash machine late at night, they get trapped and stalked upon by a mystery assailant and are left fighting for their lives.

Originality is not always the horror genres strongest point, but ATM’s execution will be its key. When everyone scoffed at the idea of Joel Schumacher’s ‘Phone Booth’ and its proposed abilty to hold an audience as its main character spends 99% of the movie trapped in a single location – he shone through and made one of the most original & celebrated movies of 2002. ATM attempts to replicate the same suspense and claustrophobic inclusion ‘Phone Booth’ stirred in audiences; by taking away the context of the outside world, viewers are drawn into a linear mindset, solely focused on the films lead characters and the minute by minute struggles they encounter.

ATM hits On demand services on March 2nd and we will find out if it lives up to the hype and the strength of the trailer. You can check out the preview below and find out more at IMDB.

The first track from The Cribs’ forthcoming album “From the belly of the brazen bull” ‘Chi-town’ has just been debuted on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show. The track ushers in the 5th stage of the bands life, and this time round we don’t have Johnny Marr. Back down to a trio, the brother Jarman have refocused and evolved their sound once more.

The lads kick off a UK tour to support the albums release on May 7th at Nottinghams Rock City. You can check out the new track below and find out more at thecribs.com

EMA has today announced a new single & video, available immediately this valentine’s day with all proceeds going to an anti-bullying charity.

Erika M Anderson (aka EMA) explains:

“This footage comes from a South Dakota trailer park in the mid-90s, and features a small group of freaks and misfits who seem to be having the time of their lives. Dressing up, hanging out, making up funny skits, and lots of laughing. When I look back now at our fresh young faces (yes that is me with the short dark hair and cat-eye liner), I’m amazed at how simply happy we all look. This is especially remarkable as I know what was going on outside those plywood walls: getting called names, shoved into lockers, and threatening to get our asses kicked for being queer or punk or just plain weird.”

The proceeds of the song go to an anti-bullying non-profit started by a 15-yr-old girl in Long Island – The Jamie Isaacs Foundation (www.jamieisaacsfoundation.org) and it works to bring youth advocates into schools and pass anti-bullying legislation.

You can check out the video below and grab the single from here.

With no Glastonbury in 2012 and the average festival ticket almost certainly costing more than last year’s £184 (that’s before 5 crates of Carlsberg and 17 packs of Super Noodles remember), the opportunity is certainly there for a competitively-priced June festival to steal the limelight. Well organised, always with a friendly atmosphere and almost completely devoid of over-aged festival goers scoffing Gourmet Ostrich Burgers (apart from Bez), the Parklife Weekender is back with a vengeance and a gobsmacking line-up to boot.

If we start from the bottom then things look a little bit more familiar but nonetheless impressive. Saturday’s Thrasher and Chibuku stage line-ups include the likes of Fake Blood, Redlight, Pearson Sound, Tensnake and Simian Mobile Disco whilst the Crosstown Rebels arena will finish with sets from Damian Lazarus and Art Department. Almost all of the names will be familiar to the Manchester club scene through The Warehouse Project and can expect to produce big sets for the occasion.

However, Parklife has had a habit of impressing with a sheer volume of impressive DJs in the past and has fallen down on the day through a lack of big-name live acts. Appearances from Crystal Castles, Chic, Kelis (returning after her performance last year), Nero and Tom Vek should rectify this on the Saturday whilst dance fans need not worry as Sub Focus, Zane Lowe, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Pendulum will doubtlessly keep the tents hot, loud and intense. When the M.E.N. described Parklife as a balance between “populist indie and niche electronica”, then Noah & The Whale and The Flaming Lips appearing to close the Main Stage on Saturday is probably what they were on about. However, this at least shows a bit of a nod to eclecticism at this year’s event, a chance to mix up the pace of proceeding a bit and a bit of a teaser for those outside of Manchester’s student population.

If you thought that was impressive though, the Sunday line-up will blow you away. If you take a rough house / dub / drum and bass dividing stick and apply it to big names in dance music right now then you would probably come up with something roughly like this: Maya Jane Coles, Julio Bashmore and Joy O at the Wax:On Stage, Fresh (Live), Shy FX, David Rodigan, Artwork and Toddla T on the Ape Carnival Stage (supported by local hero Rich Reason) and Netsky, London Elektricity, High Contrast, Nu:Tone and Danny Byrd on the Hospitality Stage.

BUT WAIT.

Here’s where it gets truly amazing as the fantastic Justice close proceedings at the Metroplex Arena with support from Annie Mac, Erol Alkan and rising star Madeon. Throw into that a Sunday Main Stage line-up of great new talent (Delilah, Azaelia Banks, Labrinth, Murkage) and you don’t even have to worry about the fact that Dizzee Rascal is headlining until it’s 10:54pm on June 10th and you’re dancing like a lunatic to ‘Bonkers’, half covered in mud and the girl next to you’s tub of Wagamama’s (I jest).

All the usual suspects are there, but this year the Parklife Weekender is set to back up all the excitement with some incredible performances with some genuinely amazing live acts. We’ll see you down there in June.
