Red Bull Music Academy has just dropped this awesome short film about DFA Records.

It features interviews with DFA founders James Murphy and Jonathan Galkin as well as acts like LCD Soundsystem, Holy Ghost!, The Rapture, and more talking about the labels success, its history and the structure of its global output. It puts us behind the scenes of their operations and invites us to take a candid look at the DFA family.

On May 25, RBMA will present a DFA Records 12th anniversary celebration at Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn. It will feature Murphy, the Juan MacLean, Shit Robot, the Crystal Ark, Factory Floor, YACHT, Black Dice, Pat Mahoney, Nancy Whang, Tim Sweeney, The Rapture, Prinzhorn Dance School, Planningtorock, Larry Gus, Still Going, Dan Bodan, and Marcus Marr.

Often imitated, never bettered – take a look at Google’s tribute to a man who created a visual style that still has a key, defining influence on modern graphic design.

His work defined stop-motion’s development in the early days of film and he was a pioneer of combining animated visuals within live action sequences. He created his work frame by frame with painstaking attention to detail, it was his commitment to the art that helped create some of the best known sequences in early cinema – such as the infamous skeleton fight in Jason and the Argonauts.
