Born in Japan in 1976, Mikito Ozeki has worked in paper cut-out since 1997. Gently slicing one colour from atop the other, he creates stunningly intricate work that not only stuns with its detail but with its scale and ambition. Ozeki leaves the meanings to his works open to interpretation and simply describes his art as, “an ambiguous something with no answer.”

Unique, engaging and very original, Lori Nix has been producing her own brand of hybrid photography for personal and commercial projects for the last 13 years. Creating unique scenes by hand and photographing them to create surreal and realistic visions of an alternative modern world.

Talking about her inspiration and work, she says…

“As a ‘non-traditional’ photographer (I construct my subject matter rather than go find it) people find it hard to grasp what exactly it is that I do. And the fact that it is all done in front of the camera, with no digital manipulation, adds its own set of challenges. Building materials, lighting, issues of scale and space all become significant when you are recreating the world on a table top.”

FAILE are Brooklyn-based multimedia artists Patrick Miller and Patrick McNeil.

Following on the heels of two major projects—the interactive arcade of Deluxx Fluxx and the haunting, allegorical suite, Lost in Glimmering Shadows— their latest exhibition Bedtime Stories is a return to fundamentals that pushes questions of form and process to the forefront. In each of the twelve works’ compositions are assembled from numerous painted wooden blocks and they emerge as unified paintings. The exhibition is coming to an end this December at their residency in NYC.

FAILE create layered multimedia collages on a variety of canvases, reminiscent of the natural decay of street art & fly posting. You can find out more about their work at FAILE.net or check out a gallery of their work below.

Vincent Fournier’s ‘Space Project’ is a photography series based on his fascination with the Jules Verne novel “From the Earth to the Moon.” Fournier photographed observatories and astronaut training stations in some of the most desolate places in the world, including the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center of the Russian Federation, the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah, and the Atacama Desert Observatories in Chile. His ghostly, composed photographs–mysterious, space suited men walking on a vast desert plain, a researcher quietly sitting in a blindingly white sterile environment, abandoned monitors blinking codes in a simulation room—have an otherworldly, unreal aesthetic. In these fascinating images, Fournier explores the paranoia and darkness of man’s attraction to the disconnect of space.
