What if the imagery and creatures that haunt our nightmares actually exist? Writer/director Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) sets out to make a documentary exploring this premise after being contacted by a mysterious man named William Dekker. Dekker claims he can prove that “monsters are real” and insists these creatures are forgotten, deformed humanoids inhabiting a vast, underground metropolis of the damned.
Green puts himself at the heart of the film and the part mockumentary, part found footage, part gonzo journalism approach is intriguiing – from the start we begin to question what’s real and what’s not, and that’s just what the Green was hoping for – the sense of unease, dread and having us re-evaluate what we know about the world. Incorporating the work of artist Alex Pardee for the creatures is an interesting touch and allows for Pardee’s creations to be brought to life on the big screen for the first time.
The film stars Ray Wise (Twin Peaks, X-Men First Class), Will Barratt (Frozen), and a selection of genre favorites and artists appearing as themselves. Digging Up The Marrow hits theatres and VOD on February 20th, check out the trailer below and for more info head to ARIESCOPE.COM
