Jesse Eisenberg Meets His Dark Self In The Trailer For ‘The Double’

‘The Double’ is loosely based on the novella of the same name by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, it follows Simon (Jesse Eisenberg), a timid man carving out a lonely existence in a complex world. Overlooked at work, hated by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. He feels powerless to change any of these things. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the equilibrium. James is both Simons exact physical double and his complete opposite.

The film seems eerily similar to ‘The Enemy’ another upcoming 2014 release that features a main character (Jake Gyllenhaal) who’s life is thrown into turmoil on the discovery of his doppelganger.

Directed by Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd, Submarine) and alongside Jesse Eisenberg is Mia Wasikowska, Sally Hawkins & Shawn Wallace.’The Double’ drops on April 4th via Studiocanal.
