Vintage Grisly Crime Scene Photos, Superimposed Onto Today’s NYC Streets

Photographer and historian of the New York Press Association Marc Hermann has been digging through the New York Daily News Archive, pulling out old crime scene photos from back when NYC was a little less safe.

Taking these grisly images of crimes past, he then superimposes them atop his images of the same locations, juxtaposing the black and white gritty images with the modern ‘perfect city’ perception of New York. They seek to remind of just how rough the city was in the not too distant past.
