Snoop Lion – La La La

I’m a bit late posting this, it hit the web about 10 days ago and has been burying its way into our psyche ever since.

Snoop Lion is Snoop Dogg…doing reggae.

I just cant bring myself to say I like it. Mainly because it reminds me of the SNL skit ‘Ras Trent’, especially the intro where buzz words are softly spoken over the beat, jutting in and out with seemingly no purpose.

Rap & Reggae crossovers can work, take Nas & Damian Marley’s excellent collaboration album from 2010. The key difference between Snoop Lion and the Distant Relatives album though – Nas rapped as he normally would and Marley provided an authentic Jamaican voice – Snoop impersonates an entire culture. For novelty value? Who knows, we will find out when the full album drops later this year.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
