Now, Matthew McConaughey doesn’t have the greatest filmography under his belt, from cheesy sub par rom coms (Failure to Launch, The Wedding Planner etc etc etc) to outright cinematic failures (Sahara) – in fact his only reputable role is his breakout bit part in the classic high school comedy Dazed & Confused. But in 2012 all the animosity you’ve built up over the years for his distinct texan voice and poor career choices is about to washed away with Killer Joe.
In Killer Joe, McConaughey plays a police detective who moonlights as a contract killer. When a young man gets into financial trouble he turns to Joe to put a hit on his own mother; in order to collect her life insurance. When he doesn’t have the deposit, Joe takes his sister as collateral and holds her hostage until the debt is paid and job is complete.
