Biutiful is a love story between a father and his children. The journey of Uxbal, a conflicted man who struggles to reconcile fatherhood, love, spirituality, crime, guilt and mortality amidst the dangerous underworld of modern Barcelona. His livelihood is earned out of bounds, his sacrifices for his children know no limits. Confronted with a seemingly never ending set of obstacles Uxbal’s struggles and surroundings are the opposite of beautiful and its the juxtaposition of the grim circumstances he finds himself and his family in, set against the sheer beauty of the human spirit where the film triumphs.
Written & Directed by acclaimed film maker Alejandro González Iñárritu, who’s previous works include the incredible Ameros Perros and Babel, Biutiful is in British cinemas as of today. You can check out the trailer below.
