Did you catch the Red Bull & Vice Producer series on Red Bull TV & VBS just before Christmas? No? You missed out on an excellent insightful look into the inner workings of a studio and the producers working out of the Red Bull studios in London.
Collectively the video’s make up a six part documentary series showcasing a selection of the most exciting producers in the world. In each episode, the process is documented as each producer collaborates with an artist of their choice in the studio, discussing themes and working on tracks. The series includes the likes of Diplo, Mark Ronson, Toddla T and Jamie Reynolds.

The series kicks off with Sheffield’s foremost beatmaker Toddla T, who aside from being a globetrotting DJ, remixer, and BBC Radio 1 presenter, lists Roots Manuva and Tinchy Stryder as artists he’s produced. Here he joins forces in the studio with Dave Okumu from Mercury Prize-nominated The Invisible on a new track for his forthcoming album on Ninja Tune.
Gareth Jones is the subject of episode two – a genuine pioneer who has worked with everyone from Depeche Mode and Nick Cave to Interpol and Mogwai, here he unveils his latest collaboration with singer-songwriter Emmy the Great
Episode three turns the spotlight onto Diplo : one of the world’s most sought after producers (with the likes of M.I.A and Snoop Dogg on his CV) finally meets his hero Lee Scratch Perry for the first time, culminating in the improvised collaboration between the two at Notting Hill Carnival.
Klaxons frontman, lover of all things spiritual and psychedelic and keen spotter of new talent, tries his hand at being a record producer, working with South coast lo-fi outsiders The Cabin Fever.
Daniel Hunt is not only the creator of much-loved electropop band Ladytron but was also handpicked by superfan Christina Aguilera to produce some tracks on her last album. Today he takes to the studio with ex-Bonde de Role firebrand Marina Gasolina to work on her debut solo project.
Episode 6 of The Producers focuses on Andrew Wyatt – multi-talented multi-instrumentalist, lead singer of Miike Snow and part of Mark Ronson’s new project,. Here he takes to the studio with longtime collaborator Mr Ronson to work on various projects including a remix of Depeche Mode.
