Auditory Pleasures // #51

Welcome back to what will sadly be the penultimate episode in the Auditory Pleasures series.

Sounding distinctly similar to fellow Aussie’s Men At Work, Cut Copy’s clean cut sound accompanied by the 80’s tinged backing feels nostalgic yet refreshing. The single can be downloaded for free from the link below and will be featured on the band’s upcoming LP Zonoscope, which is due out February 7th.

Damon Albarn takes on the stark settings of The xx with an equally mellow yet no less enticing cover of Crystalised.

The delightfully named Com Truise’s take on Twin Shadow’s Castles In The Snow adds to the tracks with glitchy electronic backing. On the back of a couple of Neon Indian remixes also released this week its apparent where Truise’s niche lies.

Carolina is taken from Girls’ latest EP Broken Dreams Club. After a steady, dream-like build up the track strides into life with hazy vocals and distorted guitar. The sound feels like a progression from the band’s debut album material and shows off a more developed sound.
