We’re constantly swimming against the tide of new music, being swamped by it all the time, being told who we should or shouldn’t look out for. A lot of these bands aren’t anything new, but Crystal Fighters have leapt out of the waves and proved themselves as a standout band of 2010. Their sound is genuinely interesting, echoing the likes of Foals and 2010 counterparts Everything Everything, but giving it a distinctly folk feel. “Follow” mixes hypnotic chanting and that folk tinge with a latin-American vibe that sets it apart from the competition.
With an amazing stop-motion video thrown into the mix, Crystal Fighters may well have made one of the most beguiling underground hits of this year.
