Another week, another fantastic selection of brilliant tracks from brilliant artists I’ve had the luck to hear.
Totally out of the blue, in the space of the past seven days Sufjan Stevens has hit us with news of not one but two new releases. ‘I Walked’ will be taken from upcoming album The Age Of Adz and is a melodic number portraying Stevens’ vocals at their most fragile.
Vampire Weekend this week took on The Boss with great maturity, proving that when required the band can rely on their acoustic talent alone to take on the best. The cover doesn’t shy too far away from the original with piano, tambourine and an acoustic guitar providing the backing to Ezra’s vocals.
Neon Indian will be releasing a deluxe edition of Psychic Chasms at the end of the month (although you can buy it now digitally here). The new edition will include a nine song remix disc titled Mind Cntrl: Psychic Chasms Possessed. Anoraak’s take on the title track from the album smooths the edge off some of the beats, providing a calming beat.
‘Cameras’ is the first preview of new material from Matt & Kim’s upcoming album Sidewalks. Catchy as hell, angular yet somehow still dreamy the track shows the duo still know what makes a perfect pop track with indie credentials.
