Auditory Pleasures // #15

Another week, another opportunity to share with you the tracks which have caught my attention over the past seven days.

It’s crazy how quickly new tracks get around the internet these days. After first reading about ‘Round and Round’ on Hipster Runoff last week I honestly wasn’t sure how seriously to take Ariel Pink. Fast-forward seven days and the track has been featured on pretty much every blog and music website worth noting. The song itself is melodic and unassuming, the 80′s influence and beats alongside Pink’s vocals compliment each other beautifully.

The Culture of Me premiered this great remix of TDCC’s ‘What You Know’ by LightsoverLA over the weekend. Taking a track and making it clubnight worthy seems to be the bread and butter for anyone wanting to remix the Northern Ireland lads lately. LightsoverLA don’t shy away from this formula but do offer one of the better and more subtle remixes around.

Holy Fuck’s synth laden instrumental sound isn’t something that I’d normally warm to. ‘Latin America’ however managed to keep my attention and compel me more with each listen. The bands new album ‘Latin’ is due for release May 10th, here’s hoping they promote it on Chatroulette as they did with this single; that way hilarity will ensue.

Seems like Robyn has been in the studio working with Diplo forever. We’re finally starting to hear some of the material they’re producing. First came the tempting but somewhat lacking ‘No Hassle’ and now is the turn of ‘Fembot’ a seeming ode to the future of computer generated women, odd.
