Auditory Pleasures // #11

Another week, another opportunity to share with you the tracks which have caught my attention over the past seven days.

The Morning Benders have caused quite a stir this week with the first track from their second album Big Echo. ‘Excuses’ is elegantly set out, perfectly arranged and most of all extremely catchy. It’s blissful state takes influence from the likes of Grizzly Bear, unsurprisingly as Chris Taylor produced the new album, and to some extent The Flaming Lips.

Comparisons to acts such as Passion Pit may be rife but it’s safe to say Yes Giantess will not stay in the shadow of other electronic pop acts for long, the latest evidence of this comes in the form of new single ‘The Ruins’. The track is produced by Starsmith, the man behind the rise and rise of Ellie Goulding. ‘The Ruins’ is released March 8th on tastemaker label Neon Gold.

Heligoland saw the return of the mighty Massive Attack doing what they do best, producing brooding melodies from the depths of darkness. This Gui Boratto remix of ‘Paradise Circus’ adds a incessent beat to the already brilliant track.

While it’s still a while until Gorillaz third album drops, the remixes for lead single ‘Stylo’ are already pouring in thick and fast. This one from Chiddy Bang layers his distinctive verse delivery over the already classic beat of ‘Stylo’. With Chiddy’s debut single ‘Opposite Of Adult’ already getting heavy radio play, it’s good to see him lending his hand to other tracks as well.
