It’s been an absolute eternity since Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip’s incredible Thou Shalt Always Kill blew summer ’07 away with it’s anti-NME lyrical rant and glitchy electronic beats. Sure, their debut album was alright, but it swung from the mediocre to the brilliant in a way that utterly destroyed it’s flow. They return in mid-March with The Logic Of Chance, hopefully the LP we all know they’re capable of making. Lead single Get Better is glitchier and deeper than material on Angles, a echoing anthem to “the youth of today”. It sounds crass, it’s not. For us though, the real highlight of this release is Jakwob’s reworking of the track. Taking it’s core pulse and reworking it into a delicious reggae-tinged treat, Jakwob pulls of possibly his best work since remixing Ellie Goulding’s Starry Eyed first catapulted him into the mainstream.
Intense, right? The band have also just unveiled the video for Get Better which sees Scroobius Pip handing out condoms and preaching from a pulpit to some suspiciously anti-drugs advert styled kids. It’s a bit like a patronising Talk To Frank advert commissioned by a local council, but with like, spoken word poetry. We’re not sold on it, but you can view it here and make up your own mind.
